NSW government departments

The persons, groups of persons and bodies specified for the time being in Column 1 of Schedule 3 to the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983 together constitute a group.

Following the changes in departments and agencies made by Public Sector Employment and Management (Departments) Order 2011, those departments and agencies which previously lodged separate payroll tax returns and paid a flat rate of tax (that is, without claiming a threshold) may continue to lodge separate returns under the arrangements that applied prior to the changes. However, they should notify OSR of changes in name or other details (including any change in ABN).

Where an agency has been amalgamated with another agency and will no longer be lodging separate returns, the agency should advise OSR of the changes (including any change to ABNs) and details of the agency whose monthly return will include their wages. Any inquiries should be directed to 1300 139 815.

The following Government agencies are specified in Schedule 3 of the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983 and are required to pay the flat rate of tax. The table lists their previous names and changes, if any, made by the Public Sector Employment and Management (Departments) Order 2011:
