Repeal of the petroleum products subsidy
Repeal of the Petroleum Products Subsidy Act 1965
The Act repeals the Petroleum Products Subsidy Act 1965 and the regulations under that Act from 30 June 2006. This is due to a Commonwealth decision to replace its remote area fuel subsidy scheme with a system of business excise credits. This repeal does not affect the Qld border subsidy scheme which is administered under the Petroleum Products Subsidy Act 1997.
