Amendments to the Fines Act 2005
Amendments to the Fines Act 1996 No. 99
The commencement date for the following Fines Act amendments is 1 July 2005 except where otherwise specified.
The amendments make it an offence to disclose information collected in relation to a fine unless the disclosure is authorised by the person concerned or by law. They also expressly permits the State Debt Recovery Office to collect information about a fine defaulter from a current and past employer for the purpose of garnishment of wages.
The amendments allow a statutory declaration under the Act to be made under the Commonwealth Statutory Declaration Act 1959 as well as under the NSW Oaths Act 1900.
