The selection process
The selection committee follow the merit based selection process including:
short-listing applications
notifying successful interview candidates
interviews.
If you are successful at the interview, we will then conduct referee and national criminal history record checks. The successful applicant will be contacted by phone and offered the position. This will be followed up by a formal written offer.
For some positions you may be required to attend an assessment centre as part of the short-listing process.
The selection committee
The selection committee assesses the merit of each applicant at each stage of the process and recommends the candidate(s) with the greatest merit for the position.
The committee is made up of:
a representative from the Division within OSR recruiting the position
a representative from another Division within OSR
an independent non-OSR representative (optional).
Merit based selection
The person whose skills, knowledge and experience best matches the job requirements will be selected for the role.
OSR has a policy of equality of employment opportunities. Applications are invited regardless of sex, marital status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, physical or intellectual impairment or homosexuality, for any position for which the applicant meets the specified essential requirements.
Short-listing
After the closing date, the committee reviews and assesses all written applications against the requirements of the position.

If you do not demonstrate convincingly in your written application that you meet all the selection criteria, you may not be considered for interview.
If you demonstrate convincingly in your written application that you meet all the selection criteria, you will be considered for interview, unless it is decided that you are less qualified and experienced than other applicants.
Remember, not being selected for a position is no reflection on you personally. You will be invited for post-selection feedback on your application (this is optional). This feedback will assist you when applying for other positions not only in OSR but in other public and private sector organisations.
